Situated on a full quarter of excellent hay-producing land, just a few miles southeast of Barrhead, Alberta, close to pavement and far away from any other Poultry operations, is an opportunity that might just be for you!
This breeder operation consists of 31044 guota units of breeding hen quota, operated out of 3 great barns.
Barn one is a New 2022 build 70x300 prefab concrete pullet barn, with full floor heat, and 4 forced air furnaces, roxel feeders, Lubing waterers, separate spiker room, as well as a separate male room, and it’s own new Natural Gas generator for backup power. This barn is fully automated with new control systems and high-end cameras to keep an eye on the birds. It has feed bins for the 3 flocks totaling 28 t.
The layer Barns are built in 2014, both 44x500 with a heated workspace, connecting the front of the barns with the picker conveyor belts, packer, and extensive work area.
The barns are also connected at the back with the manure collection system, and a shed which houses, tractor and a manure spreader.
Each Layer Barn has its own 2-foot deep pit under the slats and automatic manure scrapers that run twice daily. The layer barns have floor heat under the scratch area, as well as 4 forced air heaters in each one. Cumberland nest boxes collect the eggs, Lubing waterers offer fresh water to the birds from one of the farm's 2 wells, and feed is supplied to the Cumberland feeders from the 30+/- t feed storage bins. Each layer barn has a Solegra solar wall panel system to help with the heating efficiency of barns and cut down on the utility costs.
The layer barn also has a well-set-up mechanical room with multiple boilers for the floor, heat, cooled egg room, washroom, office space, etc., and a 4-year-old Prinzen egg picker/grader/packer.
Newer control systems are in place, as well as good cameras.
Hay production from the land is done on a 1/3 crop share with the neighbor.
Other infrastructure on the property includes a fully heated shop approximately 40 x 50’, an older, but well-maintained and renovated 900 square-foot home, and to open-faced, pole sheds for equipment and hay.
